As an optical communication practitioner, you should understand that the operating temperature of the Optical module will affect the parameters of the entire Optical module. According to the working temperature of the Optical module, there are industrial and commercial grade Optical module. What are industrial and commercial grade? What are the differences between them?

1. Operating temperature: commercial Optical module: 0~70 ℃; Industrial Optical module: -40~85 ℃

2. Application environment: coxmmercial Optical module: the most common and widely used product in the market, such as indoor computer room.

Industrial grade Optical module: It is used in relatively harsh environment, with a large temperature difference. Its most basic working condition is that it must meet the temperature requirements of minus 40 ℃ and minus 85 ℃. For example, remote mountainous areas in the wilderness, tunnels, etc.

3. Chip temperature: commercial Optical module: the temperature range that TO-CAN can withstand is 0~70 ℃; Industrial Optical module: the temperature range that TO-CAN can withstand is -40~85 ℃

4. Test method: commercial Optical module: it is subject to normal temperature aging, and can only withstand 70 ℃ at most at high temperature. The ideal operating temperature is 0~70 ℃. Industrial Optical module: High and low temperature aging test is required. The temperature can withstand 85 ℃ at most. The module can work stably in an environment below 0 ℃.

5. Import of temperature compensation software

The industrial Optical module must import the temperature compensation software, which is used to control the stable working current supply of the Optical module. When the temperature changes, the temperature compensation software will play its role. The work of temperature compensation will take a lot of time for technicians to calculate its slope with every 5 degrees (or 10 degrees) of rise or decrease as a node, and then write the results into the corresponding IC (chip) of the Optical module. This work will make our technicians stay at least a few hours or even longer in front of the high and low temperature cycle old container. The increase of raw materials and manufacturing costs is the reason why the price of industrial Optical module products is on the high side.
