This article will introduce the QSFP-100G-ER4-Lite optical module, which adopts LWDM multiplexing technology and operates in the wavelength range of 1295, 1300, 1304 and 1309. The optical signals in these four bands are multiplexed by WDM WDM and then transmitted over single-mode optical fiber through industrial standard LC connectors. At the receiver, the SOA amplifies the signal before the WDM WDM divides it into individual channels.
The wavelength transmitting TOSA of LAN WDM must be equipped with Thermo Electric Cooler (TEC) to stabilize the wavelength, which will consume about 0.5W extra power while stabilizing the wavelength, so the power consumption of LWDM4 optical module will be higher than that of CWDM4.
The QSFP-100G-ER4-Lite optical module is packaged in hot-swappable QSFP28 with dual LC interfaces. The operating temperature is 0°C to 70°C (commercial grade), and the maximum speed is up to 111.8Gbps.
The QSFP-100G-ER4-Lite optical module is equipped with FEC front-end error correction function. When the FEC function is enabled, the transmission distance is up to 40KM, and when the FEC function is disabled, the transmission distance is up to 30KM. FEC has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of FEC is that it can make the overall link meet the requirements of bit error rate, while the disadvantage is that it increases the delay of data packets and the power consumption of the device, which is obviously fatal to the financial trading system with high timeliness requirements. Therefore, FEC function is not applicable to all networks.
The QSFP-100G-ER4 optical module is widely used in 100G Ethernet (100GBASE-ER4) in data centers. The QSFP-100G-ER4 optical module is compatible with switches from Huawei, Dell, and Cisco. With the accelerated development of the Internet, cloud computing, big data and other industries, 100G products are more and more widely used, and the demand for long-distance products is also increasing.
