1、 EPON

PON technology based on Ethernet. Point to multipoint structure and passive optical fiber transmission are adopted to provide multiple services over Ethernet. EPON technology is standardized by IEEE802.3 EFM working group. In this standard, Ethernet and PON technologies are combined, PON technology is used in the physical layer, Ethernet protocol is used in the data link layer, and PON topology is used to achieve Ethernet access.

EPON technology has the advantages of low cost, high bandwidth, strong scalability, compatibility with existing Ethernet, convenient management, etc.

At present, the common EPON optical modules in the market are:

1. EPON OLT PX20+/PX20++/PX20+++optical module, suitable for optical network units and optical line terminals, with transmission distance of 20KM, single mode, SC interface and DDM support.

2. 10G EPON ONU SFP+optical module, applicable to optical network units and optical line terminals. Its transmission distance is 20KM, single mode, SC interface, and supports DDM.

10G EPON can be divided into two types by rate: asymmetric mode and symmetric mode. The downlink rate of asymmetric mode is 10Gbit/s, the uplink rate is 1Gbit/s, and the uplink rate and downlink rate of symmetric mode are 10Gbit/s.

With the development and popularization of 4K video, virtual reality and other large traffic and high bandwidth services, the large-scale use of 10G EPON has become a general trend.

2、 GPON

GPON was first proposed by FSAN in September 2002. On this basis, ITU-T completed the formulation of ITU-T G.984.1 and G.984.2 in March 2003, and completed the standardization of G.984.3 in February and June 2004. Thus, the standard family of GPON is finally formed.

GPON technology is the latest generation of broadband passive optical integrated access standard based on ITU-TG.984. x standard. It has many advantages, such as high bandwidth, high efficiency, large coverage, rich user interfaces, etc. It is regarded by most operators as an ideal technology to achieve broadband access network services and comprehensive transformation.

At present, the common GPON optical modules in the market are:

1. GPON OLT CLASS C+/C++/C+++optical module, suitable for optical line terminals, with transmission distance of 20KM, rate of 2.5G/1.25G, single mode, SC interface and DDM support.
