With the increasing demand for network throughput and bandwidth, the demand for 100G high-speed optical modules is also growing. IEEE has formulated two optical module standards for 100G networks: 100G SR4 QSFP28 and 100G LR4 QSFP28.
However, in practical applications, because the transmission distance of the above optical modules cannot fully cover the transmission distance requirements of the data center, these two standards cannot deploy the data center in the most cost-effective way. Therefore, the CWDM4 MSA has formulated the 100G CWDM4 QSFP28 standard with a transmission distance of 2km.
100G CWDM4 QSFP28 is a standard published by CWDM4 MSA organization in 2014. It is a 100G transmission mode based on single-mode coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) technology. The 100G CWDM4 QSFP28 optical module conforming to this standard uses a duplex LC interface and uses four central wavelengths of 1271nm, 1291nm, 1311nm and 1331nm for optical signal transmission.
Now let's introduce this 100G QSFP28 CWDM4 optical module.
1、 Introduction to 100G QSFP+CWDM4 optical module
The 100G QSFP+CWDM4 optical module is packaged by QSFP28. It is internally integrated with four 25Gbps non cooled CWDM DFB lasers (1271 nm, 1291 nm, 1311 nm, 1331 nm), four channel photodetectors, CDRs, miniaturized AWG chips and other miniaturized components. At commercial temperature (0~70 ℃), its typical power consumption is less than 2.6W, its photo margin is better than 20%, and its sensitivity (pre FEC 1E-5BER OMA) is less than -10.5dBm, The BER of this product ensures that BER is better than 1x10-12 under post FEC application.
100G QSFP+CWDM4 adopts duplex LC optical interface, which meets the requirements of 2KM transmission protocol. The maximum transmission distance can reach 2KM by matching with single-mode jumper OS2.
2、 Working principle
100G QSFP28 CWDM4 uses four 25G NRZ wavelength division multiplexing technology (CWDM4), multiplexes four wavelengths of 1271, 1291, 1311, 1331 nm into one single mode fiber for transmission, and then converts the optical signal into electrical signals of four output channels at the receiving end. In order to ensure the stability of the optical fiber transmission system, the 100G CWDM4 QSFP28 optical module must be used for the optical fiber link with forward error correction (FEC) function.
3、 100G QSFP+CWDM4 optical module compatibility
The 100G QSFP28 CWDM4 optical module of optical communication can be compatible with the services and switches of various brands in the market. The optical module products provided have undergone strict quality control and compatibility testing before leaving the factory to ensure that users receive optical modules with high cost performance.
