The network architecture of a data center can be divided into core layer, aggregation layer, access layer, and server group. TOR can be used for the cabling scheme of the access layer. A 10G server is placed in a standard 42U server cabinet, and a 10G access layer switch is placed at the top of the cabinet.

Before connecting the server to the switch, insert the 10-gigabit server NIC into the PIC-E bus port of the server, and then connect the 10-gigabit NIC to the 10-gigabit switch using a 10-gigabit SFP+ active optical cable.

This section describes how to connect the server to the access layer switch. Generally, the server is close to the access layer switch, so you can use cables.

The connection from the access layer to the aggregation layer can be connected by 40G QSFP+ SR4 optical module and MPO multi-mode fiber jumper. The connection from the aggregation layer to the core layer can be connected by 100G QSFP28 SR4/LR4 optical module and MPO multi-mode /LC single-mode fiber jumper.

Currently, cloud data centers have high speed, high density, and low power requirements for optical modules. The core purpose of high density is to increase the transmission capacity of switches and server boards, essentially to meet the demand of high-speed traffic growth.

At the same time, the higher the density, the fewer switches can be deployed to save equipment room resources. Low power consumption is to save energy consumption. Data centers consume a lot of power, so reducing the power consumption of each module can reduce a lot of power consumption for the whole data center. It can provide a comprehensive data center optical module solution.
