X2 is a canonical form of fiber optic transponder for data transfer rates from 10.3 Gb/s to 10.5 Gb/s to 10Gb/s It is a specific protocol:
10G Ethernet or 10G Fibre Channel versions. X2 transponders are used in fiber optic links for data communications (telecoms), they are smaller than older generation XENPAK transponders. The motherboard for its electrical interface is also standardized, known as XAUI (4 x 3.125 Gb/sec). WZT manufactures X2 300M, X210km, X220km, X240km, X280km optical modules. All modules support the function of Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM).
DWDM X2: Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) X2 pluggable modules allow enterprise companies and service providers to provide scalability and ease of deployment of 10 Gigabit Ethernet services in their networks. Both DWDM X2 ER 40km and DWDM X2 ZR 80km can be used for DWDM 10G Ethernet applications.
