200G Ethernet has become popular in the market because of its higher transmission rate, higher density, and lower power consumption of equipment. 200G optical modules, 200G DAC and 200G AOC, as important components, have certainly attracted everyone's attention. In this issue, ETU-LINK will talk about 200G DAC high-speed cable and 200G AOC active optical cable.
1. 200G DAC high-speed cable
200G DAC high-speed cables are mainly available in QSFP56 and QSFP28-DD packages. The difference between the two is that the QSFP56 DAC package uses four transmit and receive ports, and the transmission rate of each port is 50G, while the QSFP28-DD DAC The package has eight transmit and receive ports, each with a transmission rate of 25G, and is forward and backward compatible with QSFP, compatible with existing QSFP28 optical modules and AOC/DAC high-speed cables.
200G QSFP56 high-speed cables are divided into three types: 200G QSFP56 to QSFP56 DAC, 200G QSFP56 to 2x100G QSFP28 DAC, and 200G QSFP56 to 4x50G SFP56 DAC. They are mainly used in the interconnection of computer data centers and cloud servers.
The 200G QSFP28-DD high-speed cable mainly includes 200G QSFP28-DD to 2x100G QSFP28 DAC, one end is connected to a 200G QSFP28-DD module, and the other end is connected to two 100G QSFP28 modules. The cable length is 1M, which is used to connect optical network devices.
2. 200G AOC active optical cable
Similarly, 200G AOC active optical cables are mainly packaged in QSFP56 and QSFP28-DD. Among them, 200G QSFP56 active optical cable is divided into 200G QSFP56 AOC, 200G QSFP56 to 2x100G QSFP28 AOC, 200G QSFP56 to 4x50G SFP56 AOC, mainly used in 200G Ethernet with transmission distance of 1-100m.
200G QSFP28-DD active optical cables include 200G QSFP28-DD to QSFP56 AOC, 200G QSFP28-DD to 2x 100G QSFP28 AOC, and 200G QSFP28-DD to 4x 50G QSFP28 AOC, which are used to connect short-distance data center 200G Ethernet links .
3. Their respective advantages:
200G AOC active optical cable has higher transmission data rate and higher density layout under the same conditions, and can achieve the same transmission rate with relatively low wiring cost. In the short-distance (1-5m) equipment interconnection of 200G data centers, the use of 200G DAC high-speed cables has a price advantage over 200G AOC active optical cables.
