1.25G Multiple Mode

With the rapid progress of 5G bearer network, the demand for industrial optical modules is growing. With the introduction of 10G BiDi SFP+ZR industrial grade, the construction of long-distance MAN has a new optical module solution. The following is a brief introduction to the 10G BiDi SFP+ZR industrial optical module.

10G BiDi SFP+ZR industrial optical module adopts hot pluggable SFP+package, built-in EML transmitter and APD receiver, and the maximum speed is up to 11.1Gbps. ZR stands for Ze best range, which means "the longest distance". The 10G BiDi SFP+ZR industrial optical module can achieve a maximum transmission distance of 80km by matching with simplex LC single-mode OS2 optical fiber jumper. The main difference between BiDi optical module and traditional dual fiber bidirectional optical module is that BiDi optical module is equipped with wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) coupler, which combines and separates data transmitted on one optical fiber according to different wavelengths.

In order to work efficiently, BiDi optical modules must be used in pairs. The working wavelength of the 10G BiDi SFP+ZR industrial optical module is 1550/1490nm (one receiving and one transmitting). The duplexer is tuned to match the desired wavelength of the transmitter and receiver to achieve bidirectional data transmission. The temperature range of industrial grade is - 40 ℃ - 85 ℃. The 10G BiDi SFP+ZR industrial grade optical module can adapt to various complex outdoor temperature conditions.

BiDi optical module reduces the cost of optical fiber cabling infrastructure and the number of ports on the optical fiber jumper panel, which is a good solution for users with insufficient optical fiber resources. In terms of price, although the price of BiDi optical module (WDM optical module) is higher than that of traditional dual fiber bidirectional optical module, the number of optical fibers used is half less than that of traditional dual fiber bidirectional optical module. For many networks, the cost saved by using fewer optical fibers far exceeds the purchase amount of dual fiber bidirectional optical module.

How to realize interconnection between 100G and 10G/25G/40G through optical modules

QSFP28 package has become a 100G mainstream optical module with smaller volume, power consumption and price advantages. In practical applications, how should we solve the interconnection requirements between 100G ports and 40G, 25G, 10G ports? Here are some common solutions.

1. QSFP28 port and QSFP+port interconnect

We need to change the switch port configuration to run in 40G mode, and then use 40G QSFP+to QSFP+DAC high-speed cable, 40G QSFP+to QSFP+AOC active optical cable, or 40G QSFP+SR4 optical module with 12 core MPO optical jumper to realize the interconnection between 100G equipment and 40G equipment.

2. QSFP28 port and SFP28 port interconnect

We can use 100G QSFP28 to 4 * 25G SFP28 DAC high-speed cable, 100G QSFP28 to 4 * 25G SFP28 AOC active optical cable, or use 8/12 core MPO-4 * duplex LC branch jumper to connect 100G QSFP28 SR4 optical module with four 25G SFP28 SRs, thus realizing the interconnection between 100G devices and 25G devices.

3. QSFP28 port and SFP+port interconnect

If you want to interconnect the QSFP28 port with the SFP+port, you need to speed down the QSFP28 port of the switch to 40G first, and then use the 40G QSFP+to 4 * 10G SFP+DAC high-speed cable, the 40G QSFP+to 4 * 10G SFP+AOC active optical cable, or use 8/12 core MPO to 4 duplex LC branch jumpers to connect the 40G QSFP+SR4 optical module and the 4 10G SFP+optical modules to realize the interconnection between the QSFP28 port and the SFP+port.
