GPON OLT Module (GPON Class C++)

The arrival of the 5G era has brought great opportunities to the optical communication industry. Users are also increasingly demanding high-speed data transmission. At the same time, it also promotes the upgrade from 100G to 400G. Among 100G optical modules, QSFP28 is the most common. An optical module. So let's talk about the difference between 100PSM4 optical module and 100G CWDM4 optical module today.

1. 100G QSFP28 PSM4 optical module

The 100G QSFP28 PSM4 optical module is packaged as a hot-swappable QSFP28, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 70°C, with DDM digital diagnostic monitoring functions, and its interface type is 12-core MPO/MTP (interface 4-core Fiber is not enabled), the maximum power consumption is less than 3.5W, it is a four-channel full-duplex transceiver integrated module, the data rate of each channel can support 25.78Gbps, the maximum rate is up to 103.125Gbps, in line with the multi-source agreement (MSA), is a low-power consumption and high speed products.

2. 100G QSFP28 CWDM4 optical module

The 100G QSFP28 CWDM4 optical module is mainly used in 100G CWDM4 Ethernet and InfiniBand 4x EDR links. It adopts Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) technology to combine optical signals of different wavelengths (1270nm, 1290nm, 1310nm and 1330nm) on one fiber For transmission, the transmission rate is 103.1Gbps, the interface is a duplex LC optical interface, and the maximum transmission distance with single-mode jumper OS2 can reach 2KM.

3. 100G QSFP28 PSM4 optical module vs100G QSFP28 CWDM4 optical module

1. Cost; CWDM4 optical modules are cheaper than PSM4 optical modules. When the link distance is long, only two single-mode fibers are needed, while PSM4 requires 8-core single-mode fibers.

2. Lasers; PSM4 uses four integrated silicon photonic modulators and a distributed feedback laser, while CWDM uses four CWDM uncooled DFB lasers (wavelength spacing 20nm).

3. Interface; CWDM4 optical module adopts duplex LC interface, while the interface type of PSM4 optical module is 8/12-core MPO/MTP.

4. Center wavelength; the center wavelength of PSM4 optical module is 1310nm, while the center wavelength of CWDM4 optical module is 1271nm, 1291nm, 1311nm, 1331nm.

5. Transmission distance: Compared with the transmission distance of PSM4 optical module and CWDM4 optical module, there are four types: 500M, 2KM, and the longest transmission distance of CWDM4 optical module is 2KM,

6. Working principle; The technology adopted by the CWDM4 optical module is the coarse wavelength division multiplexing technology, which transmits by combining the optical signals of four wavelengths in one optical fiber, while the PSM4 optical module adopts the parallel transmission technology, which uses four independent optical signals. The single-mode fiber transmits four identical wavelengths.

7. Optical fiber type; CWDM4 optical module connection is made through duplex single-mode LC fiber jumper, while PSM4 optical module connection is made with ribbon single-mode MPO fiber jumper (8/12 cores).
