Now, the 40G network is very common in most data centers, and the optical module is one of the essential components for the interconnection of data center equipment. How much do you know about the 40G QSFP+optical module? How many types are there? What are the differences between them? If you want to know the answer, please take a look. Next, we will introduce you to the types and differences of 40G QSFP+optical modules.
The 40G QSFP+optical module complies with multiple standards such as SCSI, 40G Ethernet, 20G/40G Infiniband, etc. It has four data transmission channels, and the transmission rate of each channel is about 10Gbps. The transmission rate of 40Gbps can be achieved by simultaneous transmission of four channels. The common types of SFP+optical modules can be divided into three types: QSFP-40G-SR4, QSFP-40G-LR4, and 40G LR4 PSM.
QSFP-40G-SR4 optical module: It is generally used with MPO/MTP connector. Usually, multimode fiber link is used to achieve 40G transmission. When it is used with OM3 multimode fiber, the transmission distance is 100m, and when it is used with OM4 multimode fiber, the transmission distance is 150m.
40G LR4 PSM optical module: It is also used with MTP/MPO connector. It uses 4-way MPO/MTP interface designed in parallel, and is used with single-mode optical fiber. The transmission distance is 10km.
