Cloud computing and big data have seen a upsurge in our country. In order to provide sufficient bandwidth, many access switches have developed to connect to 40G Ethernet aggregation/core switches. 40G network has been widely used in data centers, and optical module is one of the essential components for the interconnection of data center devices. This section describes the types of 40G QSFP+ optical modules.
1. 40G QSFP+ SR4 optical module
The module is an MPO connector with a working wavelength of 850nm. When used together with OM3 multi-mode fiber, the transmission distance can reach up to 100m. When used with OM4 multi-mode fiber, the transmission distance can reach 150m, which is often used in data centers. The 40G SR4 can be connected between two 40G network devices using MPO fiber jumpers, and can also be connected with MPO-LC fiber branch jumpers to connect 40G network devices and 10G network devices.
2. 40G QSFP+ BiDi optical module
The 40G QSFP+ BiDi optical module is a dual-fiber LC interface with the working wavelength of 850nm and 900nm. It has two bidirectional channels, each with a transmission rate of 20G. Each transceiver channel can simultaneously transmit and receive optical signals of different wavelengths from a multi-mode optical fiber. When used with duplex LC-LC OM3 multimode fiber jumper, the maximum transmission distance is 100 meters. Used with a duplex LC-LC OM4 multimode fiber jumper, the maximum transmission distance is 150 m.
3. 40G QSFP+ ESR4 optical module
The optical module adopts 4-channel 850nm VCSEL array and PIN photodetector array, complies with QSFP+ MSA and IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-ESR4 Ethernet standard, and is compatible with IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR Ethernet standard. The interface type is MPO. The transmission range through OM3/OM4 multi-mode fiber is up to 300m or 400m.
4. 40G QSFP+ PSM4 optical module
The module is an MPO connector with an operating wavelength of 1310nm and a transmission range of up to 2/10km when used with single-mode optical fiber OS2. It is widely used in 40G Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and PCIe interconnection solutions.
5. 40G QSFP+ IR4 optical module
40G QSFP+ CWDM IR4 optical module adopts TFF multiplexer and demultiplexer, 4 channels 10G NRZ wavelength division multiplexing technology (CWDM4), its working wavelength is 1270, 1290, 1310, 1330nm, interface type is duplex LC, through access to single-mode fiber jumper, The farthest transmission distance is up to 2km.
