1.25G Multiple Mode

Optical fiber communication has completely replaced cable communication due to its advantages of high transmission quality, small volume, small weight, etc. As an important part of optical fiber communication, optical module mainly serves as the role of photoelectric signal conversion, converting the electrical signal of network equipment into optical signal, so that data can be transmitted in optical fiber. Now we will introduce the classification of optical modules.

First of all, we can divide the optical modules into several categories, namely FC Fibre Channel optical modules (mainly used in storage area networks), Ethernet optical modules, namely the gray optical modules (ordinary optical modules) and color optical modules (wavelength division optical modules) that we usually contact, which are mainly used in equipment communication networks.

FC Fibre Channel optical modules can be used on storage devices, servers, Fibre Channel switches and other devices. Currently, the supported transmission rates include 8Gbps/16Gbps/32Gbps.

Ethernet optical module can be divided into two fiber optical module, BIDI single fiber optical module and wavelength division optical module (including CWDM optical module and DWDM optical module).

At present, the common transmission rate of dual fiber optical modules is 1.25G/10G/25G/40G/56G/100G/400G. According to the type of transmission optical fiber, it can be divided into multi-mode optical module and single-mode optical module. The transmission distance of multi-mode optical module is relatively short, and the central wavelength is mainly 850nm. It needs to be used together with multi-mode optical fiber (OM1/OM2/OM3/OM4). The interface types of multi-mode optical module are LC and MPO. Single mode optical modules are used for long-distance transmission. The central wavelengths are 1310nm, 1490nm and 1550nm. They are mainly used together with single-mode optical fiber OS2. The interface types of single-mode optical modules are mainly LC and SC.

The common package type of the 1.25G dual fiber optical module is SFP, and the 1.25G SFP dual fiber optical module can transmit up to 160km; The common packaging types of 10G dual fiber optical modules are SFP+and XFP. Among them, the 10G SFP+dual fiber optical module can transmit up to 100km, and the 10G XFP dual fiber optical module can transmit up to 100km;

The package type of 25G dual fiber optical module is SFP28, which can transmit up to 40km; The packaging type of 40G dual fiber optical module is QSFP+, which can be transmitted up to 40km; The package type of 100G dual fiber optical module is QSFP28, which can transmit up to 40km.

At present, the common transmission rate of BIDI optical module is 1.25G/10Gbps/25Gbps/40Gbps. 1.25G SFP BIDI optical module can transmit up to 160km; The 10G SFP+BIDI optical module can transmit up to 80km; 10G XFP BIDI single fiber optical module can transmit up to 100km; 25G SFP28 BIDI optical module can transmit up to 40km; 40G QSFP+BIDI optical module can transmit up to 150m.
