OLT

OLT is a key device in the passive optical network PON. It is located between the user side and the central office. It is responsible for converting the electrical signal from the aggregation layer into an optical signal and sending it to the ONU at the user side through a single optical fiber.

Main functions:

• Photo electric conversion: Converting the electrical signal from the aggregation layer into an optical signal.

• Splitting: Using a splitter to divide a fiber into multiple fiber channels for use by multiple ONUs.

• Management: Manage and control ONU, including configuration, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, etc.

• Service interface: Provide various service interfaces such as Ethernet, voice, video, etc.
